Akanksha Chamola became emotional during the latest episode of Lock Upp 2, saying she has been subjected to criticism and public scrutiny over her decision not to have children with Gaurav Khanna.
Speaking to fellow contestant Pamela, Akanksha reiterated that while Gaurav wanted to become a father, she never shared that desire. She said the difference in their views had led to widespread judgment and blame.
“For almost a year, I have been taking s***. I have been taking grief from everyone. I have been condemned and shamed for not wanting to have kids. These guys told me to leave him and said things like he wants to be a father. I am ruining his life, his chance to be a parent. But now you can’t accept that we are separating also?" Akanksha said.
Later in the episode, during a conversation with Ram Kapoor, the actress spoke about the emotional toll the situation had taken on her.
“It just keeps getting worse and worse for me every day. I am being publicly lynched. It is like a witch trial."
The episode aired shortly after Gaurav Khanna appeared on Lock Upp 2 on Thursday, where he addressed Akanksha's announcement about their separation and admitted he was disappointed that it had been made on the reality show.
Questioning the timing of the disclosure, the former Anupamaa actor said, “We just discussed it, no petition was signed, nothing is official."
When Akanksha replied, “Because you went for Khatron Ke Khiladi," Gaurav interrupted, “You dropped that bombshell on me just seven days before the show. Should I be doing the stunts there or manage the mess in my head? But it’s fine."
Khanna, who is set to appear in Khatron Ke Khiladi, also emphasised that the couple remain legally married and expressed concern over the public reaction to their relationship.
“I was so surprised by the way people have taken it. This is an open ground to party; they are making whatever stories they want and writing whatever they feel like. But I can’t stand them saying anything against you because legally we’re still husband and wife, and I am your husband, and I don’t like it when people speak badly about anybody I have been with, or I am with," he said.
