Amid rising tensions with China, India-US to hold military exercise near LAC

Sources in the defence and security establishment said a joint exercise is being planned from October 14 to 31, where both the forces will conduct 'maneuvers to exploit the full scope' of the high altitude warfare. The sources said that the location (at 10,000 feet) where the exercise will take place falls in Phase 1 of adaptation to high altitude.
Centre to withdraw Personal Data Protection Bill, bring sharper one

"The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 was deliberated in great detail by the Joint Committee of Parliament. 81 amendments were proposed and 12 recommendations were made towards a comprehensive legal framework on the digital ecosystem," Vaishnaw said in a statement. The earlier bill drew intense scrutiny from privacy advocates, industry stakeholders and tech companies.
ED seals Young Indian office in National Herald building

The ED sources said that they had asked Kharge to provide an official of YI so that they could go on with the search proceedings. But after hearing this Kharge left the National Herald office and didn't provide them with any official. "We wanted to make the seizure memo in front of that official of YI. As we weren't provided anyone we had to seal it to keep the proofs intact," the source said.

After a day of decline, India's Covid tally rises to 17,135 infection, 47 deaths

In the same period, the country has reported 47 more Covid deaths, taking the nationwide death toll to 5,26,477. Meanwhile, the active caseload of the country has marginally declined to 1,37,057 cases, accounting for 0.31 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Research underway to find vax against monkeypox: Adar Poonawalla

Poonawalla has reportedly briefed the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on the issue in a meeting on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed Monkeypox cases reached 8 on Tuesday. Mandaviya has said in the Rajya Sabha that out of total 8 cases reported in the country so far, five have the history of travelling abroad. The Health Minister said studies are still being conducted to find proper vaccination for the disease.

India inks six pacts with Maldives

Scientists have isolated monkeypox, possibility of developing vax: Mandaviya

While replying to a question regarding the steps taken to create awareness about monkeypox, Madaviya said: "Monkeypox has been isolated by our scientists and ICMR has also floated an 'expression of interest'. Like it was done during the time of Covid. On the basis of that, our scientists who come forward should be given an isolated virus so that its vaccine can be developed."
