Delhi reports less than 7k new Covid cases, lowest since April

The positivity rate - the proportion of samples tested that return positive for Covid -19 -- continued its sharp decline to 11 per cent, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday. The Capital has been witnessing a sharp decline in daily positive cases and positivity rates for around two weeks.

The Niti Aayog has tweeted and praised the system of oxygen supply monitoring and real-time Covid management for providing immediate oxygen to every person in need in Uttar Pradesh (which has the country's largest population) during the unprecedented Covid-19 crisis.
Heavy rain lash Kerala, coastal areas badly affected

Even though the depression is approximately around 290 km away from Kannur, on account of the heavy rains across the state, and with the sea turning rough, the state government has been forced to open numerous camps across the state to move people to safety. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed the preparedness of the state in facing any calamity arising out of the cyclonic storm.
Rahul takes potshot at Modi over dead bodies in Ganga

In a tweet in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi said, "The one who said Ganga has called him, has made the Mother Ganga cry." He also attached a news report which claimed that on the 1,140 km long banks of river Ganga about 2,000 dead bodies have been found. In the last few days several dead bodies have been found floating in the river or buried near its banks in several districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Over 3.26L new Covid cases, 3,890 deaths in India in 24 hrs

In the past 23 days India's daily Covid tally has plateaued over the three-lakh-mark and over 3,000 casualties for 17 days. On Wednesday, India recorded 4,205 fresh Covid deaths, the highest ever, while on May 7, the country had recorded its highest ever cases of 4,14,188. India's total tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,43,72,907 with 36,73,802 active cases and 2,66,207 deaths so far.

The overall Covid situation has improved in the national capital in the last few days with most parameters showing signs of improvement. Delhi had reported 10,489 new cases on Thursday, 13,287 on Wednesday, 12,481 on Tuesday, 12,651 on Monday, 13,336 on Sunday and 17,364 fresh cases on Saturday. At least 54,042 RT-PCR tests and 14,533 Rapid Antigen tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
O2 concentrators case: Delhi HC denies interim protection from arrest to Navneet Kalra till May 18

A single bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad said: "I am persuaded by the reasons given by the trial court which is a valid ground for me not to grant any interim protection now." The court has listed the matter for further hearing on May 18. The sessions court had noted that allegations against Kalra are serious and his custodial interrogation was needed to unearth the entire conspiracy.

Addressing a digital press conference, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in the last few weeks, many children have lost their parents and several senior citizen have lost their children. The Chief Minister also said that the number of people admitted to the hospitals has also reduced by more than 3,000 in the past 10 days but warned the situation was still serious.
