US court allows mega antitrust case against Google to proceed

The judge, however, dismissed claims of collusion between Google and Facebook (now Meta) in the "Jedi Blue" programme, a deal in which Google and Facebook allegedly joined hands for ad auctions, reports The Verge. "The states' allegations are not plausible because they fail to adequately account for Facebook's motivation to use its economic clout as an advertiser to drive the hardest bargain it could with Google," the judge said in the ruling.

Real-time community chats arriving on Facebook and Messenger

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company is building Community Chats as a new way to connect with people who share interests. "More than 1 billion people use Messenger to communicate with friends, and soon you'll be able to start Community Chats from Messenger as well as Facebook Groups," he said late on Tuesday. "We'll also be expanding Community Chats to even more Facebook Groups," said Loredana Crisan, Head of Messenger.

An internal Meta document accessed by The Wall Street Journal shows that Instagram users are spending 17.6 million hours watching Reels daily -- less than a tenth when compared to 197.8 million hours users spend on TikTok a day The report, published in August, claimed that Reels engagement had fallen 13.6 percent over the last four weeks, and "most Reels users have no engagement whatsoever".
Apple to allow iPhone users to remove security patches in iOS 16

The Rapid Security Response system in iOS 16 can install security patches without fully updating your iPhone, or even without having to restart it, in some cases. By default, Rapid Security Responses are installed automatically, but Apple has implemented a way to remove them, reports MacRumors. According to a support document, the user can remove a Rapid Security Response update by going to Settings, General and About, then tapping tapping Remove Security Update.
