India slams Pakistan, China over move to add more countries in CPEC projects

External Affairs Ministry spokesman, Arindam Bagchi said that such activities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are "inherently illegal, illegitimate and unacceptable", and will be treated accordingly by India. "India firmly and consistently opposes projects in the so-called CPEC, which are in Indian territory that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan," he said.

State Department spokesperson Ned Price said China could influence Myanmar more than any other country, the BBC reported. "We are calling on countries around the world to do more. We will be doing more as well," he said. He said the US was considering "all options" to cut off the regime's revenue, BBC reported.

The President was given the name by the Republic of Korea (ROK)-US Alliance Friendship Association, Yonhap News Agency reported on Tuesday. "We, the ROK-U. Alliance Friendship Association, are honoured to announce and grant US President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. a Korean name. His name will be Bae Ji-sung," the association said in a statement.
1st German air defence systems arrive in Ukraine

These are anti-aircraft systems, for which we have received tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition," Ukrayinska Pravda quoted the Minister as saying on Monday. "We are waiting for the first 15 Gepards. Three arrived in Ukraine today. They are already at the disposal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he added.
310 killed, 300 injured as heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Pakistan

A total of 175 women and children are among the deceased, the NDMA said in a situation report released on Sunday, adding that the rains have partially or fully damaged nearly 8,979 houses along with 48 bridges and several shops across the country, Xinhua news agency reported. Most of the damages and casualties were reported from the country's southwestern Balochistan province, where 100 people died and 57 others sustained injuries due to monsoon rains that triggered flash floods, followed by the southern Sindh province, which has reported 70 deaths and 27 injuried people, according to the NDMA.

More than 92,000 child Covid-19 cases were reported for the week ending July 21, the second consecutive weekly increase of reported cases, according to the report. More than 311,000 child Covid-19 cases have been added in the past four weeks. Nearly 6.1 million reported cases have been added in 2022, Xinhua news agency reported. There is an urgent need to collect more age-specific data to assess the severity of illness related to new variants as well as potential longer-term effects, said the AAP.

Two Indian-origin men shot dead in Canada, 10 days after Ripudaman's killing

Meninder Dhaliwal and Satindera Gill were killed on Sunday at the British Columbia resort village of Whistler. The two latest victims were shot in broad daylight while sitting in a car in a public place like Ripudaman Malik and as in that incident, a car was also found burning nearby, according to media reports. The two incidents, however, have not been linked by officials.
