Trump eyeing early announcement of 2024 White House run

Trump first ran for the White House and won in 2016, beating Democrat Hillary Clinton. He had earlier swept aside a large and wide field of Republicans in the primaries, that included Jeb Bush of the clan of Bushes. He sought re-election in 2020 but lost comprehensively to Democrat Joe Biden. The 2024 run will be his third, if he does get into it. Trump remains extremely popular in the Republican party with his poll numbers in the 80s.
US confirms talks on unblocking Afghan assets

As the Taliban government seeks to get the Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) assets, the Joe Biden administration wants assurances that the money would be spent on helping the Afghan people, Pajhwok News reported. The State Department said the United States renewed its pledge of $55 million in fresh aid for the earthquake survivors in Afghanistan.
T.Raja Kumar takes over as FATF chief

Pakistan registers protest on India's recent blocking of Twitter accounts

Most Twitter handles supporting Zubair from M-E, Pakistan: Delhi Police

"We found it during social media analysis that most of the Twitter accounts supporting Zubair after his arrest were from countries like the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Pakistan," a senior Delhi Police official told IANS. The 33-year-old fact-checker is currently under police custody and is being interrogated over one of his objectionable tweets which he posted in 2018.
Life becomes miserable in Pakistan as inflation at 13-yr high

Consumer Price Index (CPI) shows that June 2022 proved the most expensive month in the past 13 years, Samaa TV reported. In June, inflation rose 21.32 per cent compared to June 2021 (year-on-year increase) and 6.32 per cent compared to the previous month (month-on-month increase). Such a drastic change in CPI was last seen in December 2008 when year-on-year inflation stood at 23.3 per cent.

Russian strikes in Odesa kill 21 people

In a statement, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) said 16 people were killed when one missile hit a nine-storey building in the village of Serhiyivka on Friday night, the BBC reported.A separate strike on a holiday resort in the same village led to five fatalities, including the 12-year-old child.According to the DSNS, 38 people, including six children, were also injured in the strikes, which Russia has again denied of firing.
Biden to end filibuster in Congress on women's abortion rights

Biden condemned on Thursday the SC verdict overturning the Roe 1973 ruling upholding a woman's right to abortion as "outrageous behavior" saying for the first time that he supported ending the filibuster on the issue as protection to women and a broader constitutional right to privacy. He was speaking at a Press Conference in Madrid on the last leg of his G7 visit to Bavaria in Germany and other countries.
