Imran Ahmad Khan, 48, who is half Pakistani and half English, though denied assaulting the teenager following a party at the victim's family home, a spokesman for the Conservative party disclosed that Imran has been expelled from the party with immediate effect. His lawyer, of course, said he planned to appeal. He is thought to be the first sitting MP convicted of child sex offences.
Ukraine Prez proposes to extend martial law again

World Bank says 34% Pakistanis living on just $3.2 a day income

The Pakistan Development Update -- the biannual report issued by the Washington-based lender -- also said that soaring inflation disproportionately affected poor and vulnerable households that spend a relatively larger share of their budget on food and energy. The poor spend around 50 per cent of their total consumption on food items, the World Bank said.
PML-N plans impeachment of Pak President Alvi

The possibility of impeachment was first raised by Pak Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and then elaborated by Senator Afnanullah Khan. Aurangzeb said that Alvi must know that he is the president of Pakistan and not the PTI. "If he wants to indulge in politics, he must leave the office of the president," she said at her press conference. Under the Constitution of Pakistan, the president could be impeached only by the two-thirds majority of the joint session of the National Assembly and Senate.
Ukraine, Russia conduct fifth prisoner exchange

Of the 60 Ukrainian military personnel released, 10 were officers, she said. However, she gave no details on how many Russian captives were exchanged during the swap.

N.Korea's massive military parade seems imminent, suggests satellite imagery

UAE summons Israeli ambassador to protest events at Al-Aqsa Mosque

The UAE protested the "attacks on civilians and incursions into holy places that resulted in the injury of a number of civilians," the statement was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency. Al Hashimy stressed the need to immediately stop these events, provide full protection for worshipers, respect the right of Palestinians to practice their religious rites, and halt any practices that violate the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, it added.
