UK trade secretary in India to resume FTA negotiations

Tax collections up by 24% in current fiscal year-on-year

With this, 61.79 per cent of the budget estimates for the current fiscal have already been achieved, official sources said. Also 66.92 per cent higher income tax refunds were issued till November 30 during the current fiscal, compared to the corresponding period of last year. Refunds amounting to Rs 2.15 lakh crore were issued between April 1 - November 30.

The company's annualised run rate for the loan distribution business is now Rs 39,000 crore ($4.8 billion.) In the two months, Paytm has distributed 6.8 million loans (y-o-y growth of 150 per cent), aggregating to loan disbursements of Rs 6,292 Cr ($774 million, y-o-y growth of 374 per cent).

The deal is said to be part of Tata Group's efforts to revive Air India, reports in a section of media said. As per reports, the orders are learnt to include both narrow-bodied and wide-bodied jets. The developments though could not be confirmed, they added.
CBDT issues circular on TDS on salaries for current fiscal

The circular said that the tax should be deducted at the average rate calculated, based on the rates in force for the current financial year, on the estimated salary income of the recipient for that year. The circular was issued last week by CBDT.
Russia offers to help India overcome crude price cap: Reports

"In order not to depend on the ban on insurance services and tanker chartering in the European Union and Britain, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak has offered India cooperation on leasing and building large-capacity ships," reports quoting the Russian embassy in New Delhi said. Novak met Indian Ambassador to Moscow Pavan Kapoor on Friday, as per the statement.
Rs 10 lakh penalty imposed on Glaxo Smith Kline for misleading ad, Parl panel told

These are among the five cases where the CCPA has imposed penalties on entities for issuing misleading advertisements with false claims and adopting unfair means to misguide consumers. Apart from this, the authority has till date issued 85 notices against misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices, out of which 38 cases were related to misleading advertisements.
