Rumana Sultana tops HS exams in Bengal, scores 499 out of 500

Forty-five days after the West Bengal government decided not to conduct Madhyamik (Secondary) and Uccha Madhyamik (Higher Secondary) examinations this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the WBCHSE on Thursday announced the results for Class 12 students on the basis of an evaluation pattern decided by the state-appointed expert committee and the council.

Bengal declares Class 12 results, pass percentage 97.69

Announcing the results, Mahua Das, President, WBCHSE, said, "Of the total 8,19,202 students, 97.69 per cent have passed, which is higher than the previous year." However, according to the results announced by the council, a total of 3,19,327 students got more than 60 per cent marks, which is lower than the previous year's numbers.
Himachal to open schools from Class 10 to 12 on Aug 2

It was decided that the coaching, tuition and training institutions would also be allowed to function from July 26, while research scholars would be allowed to attend universities as per the dates to be notified by the authorities. The Cabinet also decided to open three sub-divisional offices (Civil) at Nirmand in Kullu district and at Jubbal and Kotkhai in Shimla district to facilitate the locals.

"We cannot reach these ideals if we do not actively strive to ensure that our campuses are inclusive and representative. No democratic model can sustain itself if it does not carve out spaces for all voices, no matter how big or small to be heard. Punjab schools to open from July 26, with rider

Taking note of the decline in Covid positivity to 0.3 per cent, with reproduction number at 0.75 for Punjab (lower than the national average), he said schools will be allowed to open for classes 10 to 12, but only those teachers and staff, who are fully vaccinated, shall be allowed to be physically present. Physical presence of the students shall be purely at the consent of the parents and the option of virtual classes shall be continued.

The message was conveyed during  the first Parents-Teachers Meeting (PTM) that was conducted recently in Delhi Government schools. The parents were also told that the PTMs will continue in a staggered fashion until July 31 to connect with them as the new academic session begins.

No CUCET for UG admissions from 2021-22 session: UGC

Earlier, the education ministry had announced that a common entrance test will be held for admitting students to the universities. In a tweet, the UGC said that admission process in central universities during academic session 2021-22 may continue as per past practice in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. "Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) may be implemented from academic session 2022-23,” it added.
