'Badhaai Do': Stretched narrative makes for tedious viewing
Bold themes reflecting the changing reality of our society are slowly but surely making their way into Hindi films. While the honesty and intention are laudable, Harshavardhan Kulkarni's 'Badhai Do' is forcefully stretched to make this point palatable to the audience. Also, somewhere down the line, the message loses its impact and earnestness.
Cate Blanchett to star in and produce 'The New Boy'
Blanchett will star in the film, set in 1940s Australia, alongside Deborah Mailman and Wayne Blair. Written and directed by Thornton, 'The New Boy' depicts the story of a nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan boy who arrives in the dead of night at a remote monastery, run by a renegade nun (Blanchett), where his presence disturbs the delicately balanced world in this story of spiritual struggle and the cost of survival.
Kangana Ranaut goes fearless in 'Lock Upp' teaser
The show will have 16 celebrities on the show whose names will be announced officially soon. These contestants will be locked up inside the jail and there will also be a concept of bail in the reality show. In the teaser, Kangana looks fiery as she walks down in the alley of a lockup. She describes the game rules and takes a dig at all her haters and also points out the nepotism in the industry.

'Shaktimaan' to be recreated as big-screen trilogy
The studio made an announcement on Thursday by releasing a special video. Actor-producer Mukesh Khanna's (the original 'Shaktimaan') Bheeshm International has joined forces with Sony Pictures International Productions and Brewing Thoughts Private Limited to work towards the recreation of the superhero that once ruled Indian television. The name of the director is yet to be revealed.
Universal picks up Sting's career catalogue; his asking price was $350m
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but in recent months the artiste was said to be seeking around $350 million. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, known all over the world as Sting, finds himself in the honourable company of Bob Dylan, whose catalogue was acquired by UMPG for close to $400 million in late 2020.
