Union Parliamentary Minister Prahlad Joshi on Tuesday said that around 90 percent of the students fail to clear the qualifying exams in India after studying abroad.
“90% of Indians who study medicine abroad fail to clear qualifying exams in India… (However) This is not the right time to debate why students are moving out to study medicine,” Minister Joshi said.
Minister Joshi assured that the government officials are in contact with the Ukrainian and Russian counterparts to ensure safe passage of Indian students so that they can fly home.
Thousands of students travel abroad from India every year to study medicine and return home to give he Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) to get a license for practice.

As per the FMGE 2021 result, total 23,349 aspirants appeared for the examination and around 5,665 of them passed the examination. The exams are held biannually. The next FMGE will be held in June 2022.
Indian foreign secretary (FS) Harsh Shringla on Tuesday announced that there are no Indian nationals left in Kiev, capital of Ukraine.
FS Shringla also mentioned that he has asked the Russian and the Ukrainian envoys to permit a safe passage for the Indian nationals to escape the warzone, especially in Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.
The Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster, a military transport aircraft, was dispatched to Romania at 4 A.M. Wednesday morning to carry home the Indian nationals who escaped Ukraine via land borders into neighbouring countries.

The flight is part of a series of undertakings by the Indian government under “Operation Ganga” to fly home Indian nationals leaving war-stricken Ukraine. The massive cargo aircraft left for Romania from the Hindan Air Force station near Delhi.
