'Whole Indian nation should rally around Nupur Sharma': Dutch MP Geert Wilders comes out in support of former BJP spokesperson

Coming down heavily on Islamic nations for outraging over Nupur's comments, the Dutch MP called them "hypocrites" and alleged that they persecute minorities and disrespect human rights. Warning against the policy of appeasement, Geert Wilders said that it will "only make things worse".

The ruling BJP suspended its former spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her comments on Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate but Dutch MP Geert Wilders has openly come out in her support. Nupur Sharma has received death threats from many quarters including the dreaded terrorist organisation Al Qaeda over her remarks.

Urging the Indians to rally around Nupur Sharma, Geert Wilders said that one should "never bow to terrorists".

"Never give in to Islamic terrorists like Al-Qaida, they represent barbarism. The whole Indian nation should rally around #napursharma now and support her. Al Qaida and the Taliban put me on their hitlist years ago. One lesson: never bow for terrorists. Never!" Geert Wilders tweeted.

Nupur Sharma unconditionally withdrew her statement later but she pointed out that she made the remarks because of the constant mocking of Shivling.

Referring to the claims and counter-claims over the presence of a Shivling inside the Gyanvapi mosque, Nupur said in a statement: "It was mockingly being said that it is not Shivling but a fountain. The Shivling was also being ridiculed by comparing it to roadside signs and poles in Delhi."

"I could not tolerate this continuous insult and disrespect towards our Mahadev and I said some things in response to it. If my words have caused discomfort or hurt religious feelings of anyone whatsoever, I hereby unconditionally withdraw my statement," she added.
