Gasping for oxygen, Delhi awaits 480 MT of fresh supply
With the alarming surge in the number of Covid cases in the national capital, if the oxygen quota gets depleted in these hospitals, Delhi will stare at a catastrophe, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government said in statement on Wednesday.

At a talk organised by the Centre's citizen engagement platform, MyGovIndia, Guleria said one of the treatments for Covid-19 is oxygen, but it has to be used judiciously. He added that when a person has pneumonia or chronic lung disease when saturation falls, then oxygen is a treatment, given sometimes for a short duration, but sometimes people are on long-term oxygen therapy.

The second interim analysis is based on accruing more than 87 symptomatic cases of Covid-19. Due to the recent surge in cases, 127 symptomatic cases were recorded, resulting in a point estimate of vaccine efficacy of 78 per cent against mild, moderate, and severe Covid-19 disease.
Centre has increased Delhi's oxygen quota: Kejriwal
Kejriwal, who is in self-quarantine after his wife Sunita Kejriwal tested Covid-19 positive, tweeted: "Central govt has increased Delhi's quota of oxygen. We r very grateful to centre for this." The Chief Minister's tweets came moments after Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, addressing a digital press conference, expressed alarm of shortage of oxygen in Delhi's hospitals.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tests positive for Covid-19
After testing positive, Nishank appealed to all those people who had come in contact with him in the last few days to get themselves tested. The Minister said, "I want to inform all people that I had undergone a Covid test whose report came out positive. I am taking medication and treatment as per the advice of my doctors. I request all those who came in contact with me recently to get themselves tested."

The B1617 variant, first detected in Maharashtra, contains mutations from two separate virus variants -- E484Q and L452R. The third mutation evolved from the double mutation where three different Covid strains combined to form a new variant. Two of these triple-mutant varieties have been found in samples collected from Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.

"All vaccination would be part of the National Vaccination Programme and mandated to follow all protocols such as being captured on CoWIN platform, linked to adverse events following immunisation (AEFIs) reporting and all other prescribed norms. "Stocks and price per vaccination applicable in all vaccination centres will also have to be reported real-time," the government said.
