Month after jab, RSS chief Bhagwat tests Covid positive

According to an RSS functionary, he was suffering from some minor cough and cold issues and underwent an RT-PCR test. After the report came Covid-19 positive, he was admitted to the Kingsway Hospital on Friday. Incidentally, the 70-year-old Bhagwat - who had taken his first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on March 7 - is responding well to the treatment and his condition is described as stable.
West Bengal gears for fourth phase of Assembly polls

Out of 44 Assembly constituencies slated for the polls, 11 are in South 24 Parganas district, nine in Cooch Behar, five in Alipurduar district, nine in Howrah district and 10 in Hooghly district. Polling is scheduled in six constituencies of Kolkata including Behala East and West, Kasba, Metiabruz, Jadavpur and Tollygunge. Though these constituencies are part of South 24 Parganas they fall under Kolkata's administrative jurisdiction.
20 doctors test Covid positive at AIIMS

"Of the total 26 healthcare staff, 20 are doctors and six MBBS students of AIIMS, who were found to be Covid-19 positive in the last 10 days." Of these 26, only two had taken both the doses of Covid vaccine, sources said. This comes a day after it was reported that 37 doctors tested positive for coronavirus infection at Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
India, China militaries' talks for disengagement on LAC continue

The 11th round of Corps Commander talks at Chushul is happening after a nearly two month gap. The Indian military delegation was led by Leh-based 14 Corps Commander, Lt Gen P.G.K. Menon.The focus of the talks is disengagement on other friction points. After the Pangong disengagement, both countries planned to carry out disengagement on other friction points like Gogra, Hot Springs and Depsang.
SUV case: Sachin Vaze sent to judicial custody till April 23

Arrested on March 13, Vaze had been in the custody of National Investigation Agency (NIA), and has now been shunted to judicial custody by Special Judge P.R. Sitre after the agency did not seek his further remand.Vaze was nabbed for planting an explosive-filled SUV near Antilia, the home of industrialist Mukesh Ambani on February 25, and later the case of the mystery death of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran, whose body was found in the Thane Creek wetlands.
India, Kazakh defence ministers discuss ways to strengthen military ties

During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, including through training, defence exercises and capacity building. They agreed that both sides must look at the possibility of defence industrial collaboration of mutual interest.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement, "The government of India's stated position on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is that the Convention does not authorise other states to carry out military exercises or manoeuvres in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and on the continental shelf, in particular those involving the use of weapons or explosives, without the consent of the coastal state."

Rafale row: India cheated to tune of Rs 21,000 crore, alleges Congress

The remarks came after a French news portal mediapart.fr in a three series investigation claimed that it was in possession of documents that showed Dassault Aviation, which manufactures the Rafale jet, and its industrial partner Thales, a defence electronics firm, paid a "middleman" several million euros in "secret commissions" in connection with the Rs 59,000 crore deal for 36 jets for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
