In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished her the very best for assuming the new role and responsibilities. Earlier in the day, Liz Truss - United Kingdom's foreign secretary - was announced the victor of the contest for the Conservative Party leader. She defeated former Chancellor of Exchequer Rishi Sunak, thus paving the way for her to become the next UK Prime Minister.
Refurbished Central Vista Avenue with added new amenities set to be inaugurated
The Central Vista Avenue Refurbishment Project modernised the avenue while restoring elements with heritage value. A senior official of the Ministry of Urban affairs said that 74 historic light poles, and all chain links have been restored, upgraded, and reinstalled on site. More than 900 new light poles have been added wherever necessary to ensure that the space is always safe for visitors.

India logs 5,910 new Covid cases, 16 deaths

'Black Panther' jets to be INS Vikrant's primary fighters
The aircraft has been in service with the Indian Air Force for decades. The aircraft carrier can accommodate up to 35 aircraft. The naval MiG-29 jet, called MiG-29K, will operate from INS Vikrant in anti-air, anti-surface, and land attack roles. The MiG-29K is an all-weather fighter capable of exceeding twice the speed of sound - or Mach 2. It can pull up to eight times the force of gravity and reach altitudes of over 65,000 feet.
INS Vikrant likely to be berthed at Kattupalli port in Chennai
It is to be noted that INS Vikrant, is part of the Eastern Naval Command and its base is Vishakapattanam but due to the lack of berth facilities there, discussions are on with the L&T Shipyard for the past few years to berth the prestigious warship there. INS Vikrant is 262 metres long and 62 metres wide and is as big as two football fields. Officials, who do not want to be named, told IANS that the Indian Navy had informed the defence committee about Kattuapalli port of the L&T being shortlisted to berth the giant aircraft, which is indigenously made at the Cochin Shipyard and dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister of the country.
