Prime Minister Modi will visit Karnataka and Kerala on September 1 and 2. On September 1 evening, he will visit Sri Adi Shankara JanmaBhoomi Kshetram, the holy birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya at Kalady village near Cochin Airport. In a statement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that Modi has been a strong proponent of Aatmanirbharta, especially in strategic sectors.
Delhi excise policy row: CBI examining Manish Sisodia's bank locker

Manish Sisodia was also present at the bank's branch along with his wife. Heavy police personnel were deployed outside the bank to avoid any untoward incident. "CBI didn't find anything during raid at my home. They won't find anything in lockers too. We are ready for it and are giving support to the CBI," Sisodia said in his tweet.
Justice sought for Jharkhand girl Ankita who was brutally burnt to death

The severely injured Ankita struggled for five days at RIMS in Ranchi before breathing her last late on Saturday night. She was cremated in Dumka on Monday morning. The city of Dumka, the sub-capital of Jharkhand, remained closed for the second day in protest against this incident.
Lt Gen Subramanian takes command of UN's largest peacekeeping operation

The operation, known as UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has 13,254 troops among its 17,982 personnel, of whom, 2,385 troops and 30 police personnel are from India. He was given a guard of honour by troops from India, China, Nepal, Bangladesh, Rwanda and Ethiopia as he succeeded another Indian, Lt Gen. Shailesh Tinaikar.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar to visit UAE for India-UAE Strategic Dialogue

'No case is made out', SC on PIL seeking independent probe in Rafale deal

A bench headed by Chief Justice U.U. Lalit and comprising Justice S. Ravindra Bhat told Sharma that the court was not inclined to entertain the plea. "No case is made out for interference of this court...," said the bench. In an attempt to persuade the court to entertain his plea, Sharma said that one day will come when each and every person will feel helpless and further added that nobody came forward to question corruption.
India reports 7,591 new Covid cases, 45 deaths

Meanwhile, the active caseload has come down to 84,931 cases, accounting for 0.19 per cent of the total positive cases. The recovery of 9,206 patients took the cumulative tally to 4,38,02,993. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.62 per cent.
UNGA President meets India's Vice President Dhankar, thanks India for strong support

UN General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid tweeted that during the meetings he thanked India for its strong support for his "Presidency of Hope", as he had billed the vision for his tenure. Congress Election Authority Chairman Madhusudan Mistry announced the dates of the polling process after approval from the CWC, in its meeting held virtually and attended by G23 leader Anand Sharma, who had recently quit as the chief of a party panel for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. "It (CWC) considered and approved the following final schedule of dates suggested by the Central Election Authority of the AICC for election to the post of Congress President," a party statement said.
India will become developed country by 2047: PM

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a day-long visit to Kutch, said: "After the devastating 2001 earthquake, I had assured to develop the district and in 2022, see how well it has developed. Today I am promising to make India a developed country by 2047 and will surely do it."
