Pegasus row: SC likely to set up panel to probe snooping allegations
A bench headed by chief justice N.V. Ramana orally told senior advocate C.U. Singh, who is appearing for one of the petitioners in Pegasus matter, that some experts have expressed their inability to join the probe due to personal reasons and an order on the committee is expected next week.

In an additional affidavit submitted in the top court, the Ministry of Home Affairs said: "It is respectfully submitted that suitable directions in this regard may be passed by this Hon'ble Court, whereby, the family members of people committing suicide within 30 days from being diagnosed as Covid-19 positive as per MoH&F/ICMR guidelines will also be entitled to avail financial help as granted under SDRF in accordance with the Guidelines dated 11.09.2021 issued by NDMA under Section 12 (iii) of DMA".
Delhi to remain cloudy, chances of light rain
Earlier, the IMD forecast for Delhi-NCR was for 'moderate' rains on Thursday with a 'yellow' alert issued for Wednesday. According to IMD's data, Aya Nagar observatory recorded 2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. on Thursday; 0.8 mm rainfall was recorded at Palam and at Pitampura at 1 mm rainfall. While the other observatories, including Safdarjung, recorded no rain on Wednesday.

Accordingly, Rachit Raj has become the first transgender constable to be deployed in the confidential branch of the SP office in Kaimur district. Rachit Raj (23), who was earlier known as Rachana, said that despite being born as a girl, he never felt like wearing female dresses. "When I was 17 years old, I was attracted towards girls rather than boys. It is extremely difficult to establish the identity of a transgender. When I went to the market, people passed comments. Many said that a girl was walking like a boy," Raj said.

On September 20, BJP Chief J.P. Nadda appointed Majumdar, a Lok Sabha member from Balurghat in West Bengal, as the state unit President, replacing Dilip Ghosh. Ghosh, also a Lok Sabha member, has been appointed as the national Vice President of the party. A senior BJP leader pointed out that the intelligentsia plays an important role in West Bengal politics and through Majumdar, the saffron party is trying to win their confidence.
Probe panel re-issues arrest warrant against ex-Mumbai top cop
The decision of the Justice (retd) K.U. Chandiwal Commission came after the state CID submitted that the officer could not be traced either in Mumbai or Chandigarh to serve and executive the arrest warrant issued on September 7. It has now set a fresh date - October 6 - for Singh to appear before it to give evidence, failing which the IPS officer could face a non-bailable arrest warrant.
Selvaganabathy set to become BJP's first MP from Puducherry
Accompanied by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, and Home Minister A. Namassivayam who proposed his candidature, Selvaganabathy on Wednesday filed his nomination with Assembly Secretary, R. Mounissamy, an hour before the deadline. The opposition DMK-Congress has not put a candidate.
