Centre clears all 9 judges recommended By Supreme Court Collegium

According to sources familiar with the development, the names have been sent to the President for approval. Last week, the Supreme Court Collegium, which is headed by Chief Justice N.V. Ramana and comprises Justices -- U.U. Lalit, A.M. Khanwilkar, D.Y. Chandrachud and L. Nageswara Rao, had recommended nine names, including eight high court judges and a senior advocate for the elevation to the top court.

Poet Munawar Rana's son arrested for faking attack

Tabrez Rana, who is embroiled in an ancestral property dispute with his uncle, was arrested by the Rae Bareli police from Lalkuan locality in Lucknow, late on Wednesday night. Rana, who wanted to contest the state assembly elections from Tiloi in Rae Bareli, had staged the attack on himself to get security and media coverage, besides implicating his uncles, the police official said.
No Covid case reported among 78 evacuees from Af: ITBP

The evacuees have been sent for 14-day mandatory quarantine at the force's centre in Chhawla in southwest. No action against Rane till Sep 17, Maha govt tells Bombay HC

The submission came in a plea filed by Rane seeking to quash the Nashik FIR and all other cases that may be lodged in future, and interim protection from arrest, which came up for hearing before a division bench of Justice S.S. Shinde and Justice N.J. Jamdar. Rane's lawyers Satish Maneshinde and Aniket Nikam sought protection in all other cases that may arise out of the Union Minister's statement of August 23.
India's Covid vax coverage crosses 60cr-landmark

An official said that more than 66 lakh vaccines doses were administered since Tuesday. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on social media posted: "Under PM Narendra Modi ji's 'Sabko Vaccine Muft Vaccine' initiative, India crossed the 60 crore vaccination mark. Congratulations everyone!" The Centre on Wednesday also reviewed the Covid-19 vaccination progress in all states and UTs.
New chiefs of BSF, ITBP appointed

Day after arrest, Rane unrepentant, son Nitesh hints at hitting back
