PM Modi, Vladimir Putin discuss Afghanistan; set up bilateral channel

Both the countries agreed on a ‘bilateral channel’ for consultations as the two sides shared assessments and sought to coordinate actions to ensure regional security. In a tweet, PM Modi said that he had a “detailed and useful” conversation with Vladimir Putin on recent developments in Afghanistan.

India records sharp single-day surge with 37,593 new Covid cases

This is a sharp increase in the numbers as on Tuesday the country had registered 25,467 new Covid cases and 354 deaths in the last 24 hours. India's recovery rate from the Covid infection stands at 97.67 per cent. The total active caseload has seen a marginal growth of 2,776 in the last 24 hours and currently stands at 3,22,327. At 0.99 per cent, active cases presently form less than one per cent of the country's total positive cases, as per the bulletin released by the health ministry.
Caste census necessary in the country, says Nitish Kumar

"The earlier caste-based census was conducted 90 years ago in 1931 during the British period and we have been following the same since then. This is not right.
