Delhi Unlocks: Metro passengers break rules on Day 1

Complying with Delhi Disaster Management Authority's (DDMA) guidelines on Covid appropriate behaviour, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) started its services with 50 per cent seating capacity. The government on Saturday announced that no passenger will be allowed to stand in metro coaches, however, many were seen breaking it on Monday.
Over 1 lakh Covid cases in India, lowest spike since April 5

Over the last few days, India's fresh Covid cases have seen a downward trend, maintaining over one lakh infections every 24 hours, while the deaths have also remained below the 3,000 marks. After battling a brutal second wave for weeks, fresh Covid cases came down below the three lakh-mark for the first time on May 17 after touching a record high of 4,14,188 on May 7.
'Why Delhi govt seeks to partner with private firms for doorstep delivery of ration?'

BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi has accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government of raising an army of middlemen in the name of doorstep delivery of ration. "Instead of improving the condition of 2,000 odd ration shops by linking them with Aadhaar and making them modern, the Kejriwal government's intention seems to be using these middlemen for sending ration to these shops.

A team of biologists at the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences in IIT Delhi wrote a 22-page research paper that was released as a pre-print on bioRxiv on January 31, last year. It suggested an "uncanny similarity" between aspects of SARS-CoV-2 and HIV, MIT Technology Review reported. Studying the protein structure of the virus, the team found four unique inserts in the novel coronavirus glycoprotein, not seen in any other coronaviruses.
Ready to quit if BJP high command wants: Yediyurappa

"I will resign if the party high command directs me to do so. Till then, I will continue as chief minister and work for the state's development," Yediyurappa told reporters here in Kannada at an event outside the state secretariat. Asserting that he would remain in office as long as the party high command had trust in him, the chief minister said he would not react to rumblings in the party over his leadership but will work for the state day and night.

Delhi's air quality to deteriorate to 'poor' category

The predominant pollutant will be PM10 as the strong surface winds are favorable for raising dust locally and transport of dust from nearby region, said the the National Weather Forecasting Centre of the IMD. It further warned that the air quality is likely to remain in the "moderate to poor category" for subsequent five days.

Referring to Modi, Kejriwal said, "Sir, you had objected that Delhi government's door step ration scheme cannot be implemented in the name of 'mukhyamantri ghar ghar ration yojana', then we decided not to give any name to this scheme.
