Weekend curfew in Delhi from January 8 in view of Covid surge: Here's all you need to know about new restrictions

The weekend curfew will begin from  Friday, 10 pm and will continue till Monday, 5 am. Kejriwal govt has taken this step in view of the massive surge in Covid cases in the national capital. According to the new guidelines,  private offices will operate at 50% capacity during weekdays and all government officials will work from homes unless their work comes under essential services. 

Delhi Disaster Management Authority(DDMA) on Tuesday imposed weekend curfew in the national capital, starting from January 8. The weekend curfew will begin from  Friday, 10 pm and will continue till Monday, 5 am. Kejriwal govt has taken this step in view of the massive surge in Covid cases in the national capital. According to the new guidelines,  private offices will operate at 50% capacity during weekdays and all government officials will work from homes unless their work comes under essential services.  The new guidelines by the government stated that the buses and Delhi metro will again run at full capacity to avoid crowding at stations and bus stops but with the passengers adhering to all safety measures. The announcement comes on day when both Arvind Kejriwal and his wife have tested Covid positive. “Cases of Omicron variant have been rapidly rising. Delhi has reported around 11,000 positive cases in the past 8-10 days, of which around 350 patients are in hospital, only 124 patients need oxygen and 7 are on a ventilator”, Manish Sisodia informed.

   New Covid guidelines in Delhi: Key Points
 
1. There will be a night curfew in the capital from 10 pm to 5 am, starting from January 8. 
  
2. The weekend curfew will be implemented from Friday 10 PM to Monday 5 AM.

3. Private offices can operate during weekdays but only with 50% of employees.

4. All government officials will be working from home except those under the essential category service.

5. All  passengers traveling in DMRC and DTC buses will have to use a face masks as a mandatory guideline by the government.

6. Cinema, gyms, schools, colleges, educational institutions, and spa to remain shut until further notice.

7. Shops in the market area have to follow the odd-even system.
