Sidhu resigns as Punjab Congress chief

Days after facing humiliating defeat in Punjab from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday resigned from the post. In a one-line resignation to party President Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu wrote, "I hereby resign as President (PPCC)."
UP political parties gear up for council polls

Even before the din over the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections subsides, political parties are gearing up for the legislative council elections. Nominations for the legislative council elections to be held across 36 seats began on Tuesday. The voting will be held on April 9 and the counting of votes will take place on April 12. At present, the Samajwadi Party has a majority in the legislative council.
Hijab order is discriminatory: AIMPLB

All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) general secretary Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani has expressed 'regret and disappointment' on the Karnataka High Court order upholding the ban on hijab in educational institutions. The cleric told reporters that the board will be holding an online meeting soon to discuss the way forward on the issue apart from tabling the matter in an offline meeting to be held at the end of March.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, said on Tuesday that the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits should be investigated. Speaking to IANS, Abdullah said: "Appoint an independent judicial inquiry commission to look into the events. That will show who was responsible." He also urged the Union government to take urgent steps for the resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits.
Gehlot govt in a fix over making 'The Kashmir Files' tax-free

Senior Rajasthan Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma has raised a demand that the film should be made tax free. He said he would write to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanding that the film be made tax free in the state as it shows how the Pandits have been subjected to atrocities in Kashmir. BJP leader Rajendra Rathod argued that many Kashmiri Pandits who have fled the Valley after being victims of violence now reside in Rajasthan.
