Addressing the Republic Day celebrations organised at Keshav Vidyapeeth here, he said: "B.R. Ambedkar, while dedicating the Constitution to the public, said that there is no slavery in the country. Even the British have gone, but to remove the slavery that came due to social conservatism, the provision of political equality and economic equality was made in the Constitution. That is why, it is necessary to read both the speeches given by Babasaheb in the Parliament on Republic Day."
Saket Gokhale used crowdfunding money for 'wining, dining': ED
The ED claims that Gokhale allegedly prepared a fake electronic document in the name of an institution, "OurDemocracy.in," and used a private company named GiantTreeTech Private Limited to collect funding from the public. Gokhale allegedly then used these funds for personal expenses. Gokhale was arrested and sent to ED custody till January 31.
Congress launches 'hath se hath jodo' campaign
Taking to Twitter, the Congress posted: "As we celebrate the biggest festival of democracy today, we announce the launch of the #HaathSeHaathJodo campaign. After the immense love received for #BharatJodoYatra, we are sure that the Haath Se Haath Jodo campaign will also win everybody's hearts." The party workers will deliver a letter written by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and a "charge sheet" against the Central government to each household.
Amid rift, KCR skips Republic Day celebration at Raj Bhavan
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan unfurled the national flag with a ceremonial parade as ordered by the state high court. KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, unfurled the national flag at his official residence Pragati Bhavan. The Governor received the salute by personnel of the Telangana State Special Police. Three platoons participated in the parade in the premises of Raj Bhavan.
PM, Kharge greet people on Republic Day
In a tweet, the Prime Minister termed this year's Republic Day "special" as the nation is celebrating 'Azadi Ka Amrit' Mahotsav. Everybody should unite to fulfill the dreams of the great freedom fighters of the country, he added. Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter to greet the nation on the occasion.

Rs 6K per vote promise by BJP MLA: Complaint lodged against Karnataka CM Bommai, Nadda
The case has been lodged in connection with Rs 6,000 cash per vote announcement made by BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi at a public rally. Karnataka Congress chief D.K. Shivakumar has stated that the complaint has been submitted to file an FIR against BJP leaders and take up the investigation. "It is an attempt to influence the result of elections by defeating the objectives of democracy," he said.
Boycott China and stop trade with it: Arvind Kejriwal
"Today, when we are celebrating 74th Republic Day, two things are very important. China has been eyeing our borders for quite some time. Our soldiers are fighting bravely on the border.
