Neeraj Chopra's javelin joined another Indian individual Olympic gold medallist -- shooter Abhinav Bindra's triumphant rifle from Beijing 2008 in the Olympic heritage collection held at the Museum, a rich patrimonial collection that is aimed at securing the Olympic legacy and inspiring future generations. The 39-year-old Bindra was also present for the occasion, which has now become an iconic moment for Indian sports fans.

As per AIU, which is the independent body created by World Athletics to manage all integrity issues -- including doping and age fraud, Navjeet had tested positive for Dehydrochloromethyltestosterone (DHCMT), an anabolic-androgenic steroid prohibited by World Athletics. The drug was infamously used to enhance field performances by some East German athletes during the late 1960s. The 27-year-old has been a regular feature in the domestic competitions and those held outside India this year.

Neerj Chopra on Friday finished first at the Lausanne Diamond League, becoming the first Indian to clinch the top spot in a Diamond League meet, after registering an 89.08m throw in his first attempt. In the Stockholm Diamond League earlier this year, Chopra had thrown a personal best of 89.94m and had finished second.
