Indian participants clear PCR tests as Birmingham 2022 hit by a spate of Covid-19 positive cases

The Games have been hit by a spate of Covid positive cases with more than a dozen positive cases daily in the last few days. With more athletes and team officials reaching here on Wednesday evening, the organizing committee of Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Games Federation officials have defended the measures taken by them. "All our players have cleared the tests, there is no positive case in the Indian Contingent," informed Rajesh Bhandari, Chef de Mission of the Indian team on Wednesday evening

The decision to move the tournament out of Sri Lanka was taken due to the ongoing political turmoil in the island nation. "The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is eagerly looking forward to conducting its much-awaited Asia Cup tournament from August 27 th to September 11 th , 2022, as scheduled," a Asian Cricket Council statement said.
CWG 2022: Hockey team captain Manpreet named flag-bearer along with Sindhu

The second biggest multi-discipline sports extravaganza after the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games of Birmingham 2022 has competitors from 72 nations and territories entered to compete, equalling the record held by the 2002 edition held at Manchester, around a one-and-half-hour drive from here.
