'Sorry, it can't be done', SC declines to modify order on Google's plea
In January, the apex court had declined to entertain a plea by Google challenging an NCLAT order, which refused to stay operation of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) order imposing Rs 1,337.76 crore fine on the tech giant. During the hearing on Friday, a bench headed by Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, made it clear to senior advocate Maninder Singh, representing Google, that no clarification is required in this matter.
Centre lifts ban on PayU's LazyPay, Kissht, KreditBee lending apps
The IT Ministry was recently instructed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to ban such apps, which operate through a third party link. Sources said that all these apps were found violating Section 69 of the IT Act and contained materials which were deemed as threat to India's sovereignty and integrity.

201 mn mobile phones shipped in India in 2022 at 12% annual decline
According to the IDC, the India smartphone market exited 2022 with 144 million shipments (the lowest since 2019), with a 10 per cent decline YoY. Feature phone shipments stood at 57 million, a drop of 18 per cent YoY. Samsung, Xiaomi and Transsion were the leading companies in the total mobile phone market. The fourth quarter of 2022 declined 27 per cent.
Google Meet users can now include captions in meeting recordings
The new feature will help make meeting recordings more useful and accessible for meeting participants, the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost. To record a meeting, the feature must be enabled by the admin and the user has to be a meeting host and be a part of the host's organisation.

Microsoft-owned GitHub to lay off 10% workforce, to go fully remote
GitHub had about 3,000 employees before the layoffs were announced. Fortune first reported that GitHub is also shutting down offices and will move to fully remote work culture.
