HBO Max, Discovery+ streaming service to arrive earlier than expected

The announcement of early arrival was made by David Zaslav, President and CEO, WBD, in the company's latest earnings call. The streaming services combined have approximately 95 million subscribers, in which the large majority are those of HBO and HBO Max, the report said.

Amazon to roll out Matter for Alexa devices next month

Amazon will bring support for 'Matter' -- the new smart home standard -- to 17 Echo devices next month, reports The Verge. The first rollout will only be Matter over Wi-Fi and will be compatible with Android phones only. It will cover just three device types-- smart plugs, smart bulbs and smart switches.
Apple adds News integration to Weather app in iOS 16.2

With this feature, users will get to see updates on the weather in their area, i.e. users will find a link to an article in the Apple News section that will show the updates on weather conditions in their areas. According to 9to5Mac, there are no settings to turn off News integration in the current beta, and Apple does not currently allow users to choose which data tiles are displayed in its weather app.
Samsung to bring Light performance mode to Galaxy S23 phones

This mode was introduced for Samsung's foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 earlier this year and served as an alternative to the Standard mode. It prioritises battery life by turning down the phone's chipset performance. According to GSMArena, the performance drop will be moderate, but the power consumption reduction will be substantial after enabling the Light mode. Also, this mode is separate from the usual Power saving mode.
Samsung takes a jab at Apple with new 'On the Fence' ad

According to Android Authority, the 30-second commercial was shown on Samsung's US YouTube channel. In an ad called "On the Fence", it depicts a man sitting on an actual fence, with two iPhone users discouraging him from doing so. "But on the Samsung side, they have foldable phones and epic cameras," the man says.
Elon Musk begins laying off Twitter employees, shuts offices 'temporarily'

Twitter back after brief outage for some Indian users

Twitter on mobile was working fine but users on the desktop version had some troubles logging into the platform. The Twitter website also went down for some users, with a message saying "Something went wrong, but don't fret - let's give it another shot". According to downdetector.com, a website that monitors online outages, 94 per cent users had issues with Twitter on Web, while just 6 per cent faced issues with the mobile platform.
