Bumble open sources AI that detects nudes

The new tool works by automatically blurring a potential nude image shared within a chat on Bumble. Users will be notified, and it is up to them to decide whether to view or block the image. "Bumble's Data Science team has written a white paper explaining the technology of Private Detector and has made an open-source version of it available on GitHub," the company said in a blogpost.
WhatsApp apologises, fixes 2-hour outage issue

According to The Verge, the company has announced extra features on a platform-wide level, after being testing them for newcomers since 2019. A landing page for new editors is visible to those who are logged into their Wikipedia accounts. A mentor will be chosen for them from a group of more knowledgeable site veterans who can provide guidance.
WhatsApp suffers major outage in India

According to Down Detector, over 85 per cent of people reported problems while messaging, 11 per cent while using the app, and 3 per cent while using the website. In India, the affected cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Lucknow, but users from the US, Germany, South Africa, Bahrain, Bangladesh and several other countries also complained on the platform that the service is currently creating a disturbance and not working smoothly.
Twitter employees warn Musk amid mass layoff news: Report

According to a report by TIME, as the deadline for Musk to finalise his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter approaches, an unidentified number of company employees wrote an open letter objecting to his proposal to fire up to 75 per cent of the company's workforce. "Elon Musk's plan to lay off 75 per cent of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter's ability to serve the public conversation," the letter reads.
Google to end support for Windows 7, 8.1 next year

"Starting today, we are rolling out a new look and several features that offer a more modern and immersive viewing experience while also improving how users watch videos. Filmmaker blames TikTok for allowing abusive comments in video

The filmmaker said that "she believes TikTok's algorithms are driving more hate towards the film." Meanwhile, TikTok said, "misogyny was prohibited on the platform".
