Apple restores service after widespread outage
Services with confirmed issues, according to Apple's system status page, included iMessage, some Apple Maps services, iCloud Mail, iCloud Keychain, the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV Plus and Podcasts. Apple warned users of "slow or unavailable" service in many cases, but didn't specify what was behind the problem. Thousands of users reported on the outage-detecting site Down Detector of issues with iMessage and iCloud on Monday afternoon.
Samsung launches Galaxy A53 5G with 64MP camera in India
Samsung on Monday launched its new smartphone Galaxy A53 5G in the Indian market. The smartphone comes with a 120Hz refresh rate display and is powered by an octa-core Exynos 1280 SoC, along with up to 8GB of RAM. Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is priced at Rs 34,499 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.

Taiwanese tech giant ASUS on Monday announced its latest convertible laptop 'Zenbook 14 Flip OLED' in the Indian market. The product pricing starts from Rs 91,990 and it is available across online (ASUS e-shop/ Amazon/ Flipkart) and offline platforms. LG may release OLED displays for future iPad, MacBook models
LG is reportedly planning to bring OLED display panels for two iPad models soon along with the first OLED MacBook around 2025. According to The Elec, LG Display is reportedly aiming to supply Apple with Gen 8.5 OLED panels for Apple's first OLED MacBook. LG is also planning to use its Gen 6 OLED production lines for 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad models.
Google's Chrome OS now supports variable refresh rates
US-based search engine giant Google is reportedly planning to bring full support for variable refresh rate (VRR) displays to Chrome OS. As spotted by About Chromebooks, support for variable refresh rate displays is rolling out to the Chrome OS 101 Dev Channel. The variable refresh rate allows the monitor refresh rate to synchronize with the game frame rate to avoid lag.
Google acquires microLED startup Raxium
Google has reportedly acquired Raxium, a five-year-old startup focused on developing microLED displays for AR and VR applications. The terms of the deal are unknown, but Google put a value of $1 billion on Raxium, according to a report from The Information. microLED is similar to OLED in that it doesn't use a backlight, instead each pixel emits its own light.

Google to tweak Play Store to make it better for large screen devices
According to a post on its Developers blog, Google will be introducing three main updates to the store -- ranking and promotability changes, alerts for low-quality apps and device-specific ratings and reviews. "We recently published our large screen app quality guidelines in addition to our core app quality guidelines to provide guidance on creating great user experiences on large screens," the company said in the post.
