Automation Anywhere acquires US-based Cloud firm FortressIQ
Robotic process automation (RPA) provider Automation Anywhere on Friday said it is acquiring US-based FortressIQ, a Cloud-based process discovery and mining company, for an undisclosed sum. With the acquisition of FortressIQ, Automation Anywhere will advance its AI-powered, cloud-native Automation 360 platform with process discovery, intelligence, and optimisation that can scale to any system or application across any vertical.
Omicron threat: Google, Intel not to attend 'CES 2022' in-person
Google and Intel have joined the growing list of tech companies who have decided not to attend the 'CES 2022' in-person in Las Vegas, as Omicron cases have continued to surge. While Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the governing body on CES, plans to go ahead with the show, several tech companies like Lenovo, T-Mobile, AT&T, Meta, Twitter, Amazon, TikTok, Pinterest, Alphabet-owned Waymo, along with several media outlets, will not attend the consumer electronics show.
LG, Samsung to supply iPhone 14 Pro hole-punch displays: Report
According to a report by The Elec, the South-Korean tech giant Samsung, which is Apple's dominant OLED panel supplier, will supply all of the hole-punched panels for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro while sharing orders for the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max with LG Display for the first time. The base model iPhone 14 is expected to still carry a notch style display along with the Mini variant.
Qualcomm tops global smartphone apps chip market
Qualcomm maintained its smartphone AP leadership with a 34 per cent revenue share, followed by Apple with 28 per cent and MediaTek with 27 per cent. New entrant Google captured 0.1 per cent share. MediaTek exited the first nine months of 2021 with a 26-million-unit lead over Qualcomm, reports market research firm Strategy Analytics.

WhatsApp testing new interface for voice calls
As per a report by WABetaInfo, a screenshot shows that WhatsApp is redesigning the interface for a future update in order to make it more compact and modern, organising the available space. The new redesign will look nice especially while placing group voice calls. "Even if the screenshot was taken on WhatsApp for iOS, WhatsApp is planning the same redesign for a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android as well," the report said.
Huawei unveils foldable 'P50 Pocket' smartphone in China
The device has been launched in China, though US sanctions (which mean Huawei can't use key tech like Google's Android OS) mean the P50 Pocket won't make any impact in the West, The Verge reported on Thursday. The company teased the handset earlier this month with a photoshoot focused on the P50 Pocket Premium Edition that appeared in Harper's Bazaar China. This version of the device was created with Dutch designer Iris van Herpen.
Now you can take Zoom calls from Amazon TVs
The company said that all what users need is a Fire TV Omni Series of any size to use the video conferencing app. "Joining work meetings or remote holiday get-togethers from the comfort of your couch just got a whole lot easier. Fire TV customers in the US and Canada can now use Zoom on their Fire TV Omni Series," the company said in a blogpost.
