Afghan assassin given responsibility to target Imran: Report
The threat alert issued by CTD's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wing stated that "terrorists are planning to assassinate Imran Khan, for which they have sought assistance from an assassin in Afghanistan", Geo News quoted the Daily Jang report as saying. According to Daily Jang, the text of the threat alert has been shared with various forums, according to which an Afghan assassin has been given the responsibility to target the former premier.
Canada to spend $3.8 billion to upgrade continental defense

US dismantles Russian botnet that hacked millions of devices
The US Department of Justice, together with law enforcement partners in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, brought down a Russian botnet known as RSOCKS that initially targeted Internet of Things (IoT) devices and then expanded into compromising Android devices and conventional computers. "The RSOCKS botnet compromised millions of devices throughout the world," said US Attorney Randy Grossman.
US to start Covid-19 vaccination for kids as young as 6 months this week
The plan came after the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) signed off on the shots for an additional 19 million children across the US, Xinhua news agency reported. The CDC's advisory panel on Saturday unanimously recommended the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children aged 6 months through four years, as well as the Moderna vaccine for children aged 6 months through five years.
Spain sees worst wildfire in recorded history

Central Japan rocked by series of quakes, region braces for more
An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.4 rocked the prefecture on Sunday at around 3:00 p.m. local time, with six people left injured by the quake that registered lower 6 on Japanese intensity scale that peaks at 7, Xinhua news agency reported. Many people find it difficult to remain standing during a quake with an intensity of lower 6 and unsecured furniture could fall causing damage and possible injury, the JMA said.
3 members of Indian-origin family killed in New York fire
WPIX TV station reported that the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived there on Friday afternoon and found two bodies in a basement flat. Firefighters found the third body the next day, it said. The New York Post, quoting neighbours and relatives, identified the couple as Nanda Balo Persaud and Bono Salima 'Sally' Persaud. The body of their son Devon Persaud, 22, was found only the next day.
