Fearing backlash, NATO not to send fighter jets to Ukraine
NATO was created in 1949 by the US, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the then Soviet Union. There are currently 30 member states. Ukranian President Volodymr Zelensky wanted his country to be part of NATO to which Russian President Vladimir Putin had opposed, eventually leading to war.
Pak PM Imran Khan lashes out against opposition
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan delivered an unsparing speech, at a public coordination campaign in Vehari district's Mailsi tehsil, addressing the Opposition on the planned no-confidence motion against him. He lashed out naming his political rivals individually and questioned their credentials. While some believe that he is very sure of staying in power with support from the military establishment, others claim he is increasingly getting desperate and in a state of panic over the no-confidence move.

Russia offered six routes to allow civilians to leave Mariupol, Kharkiv, Sumy and the capital Kiev. But its words were exposed as a 'cynical stunt' when it emerged some of the routes would lead Ukrainians straight to Russia. The plan was dismissed as 'immoral and unacceptable' by Ukraine and as 'nonsense' by Britain's Europe minister, James Cleverly, Daily Mail reported.

Ousted Ukrainian President urges Zelensky to 'stop bloodshed'
Viktor Yanukovych, the fourth President of Ukraine who was ousted from power during the 2014 protests, have urged the country's incumbent leader Volodymyr Zelensky to "stop the bloodshed". Yanukovych, who currently lives in Russia in exile, said he wanted to "address Volodymyr Zelensky in a presidential capacity and even a little bit in a fatherly one", Ukrayinska Pravda reported citing the Moscow-based RIA Novosti news agency.
Japan marks 2nd highest current account deficit on record
The deficit was the highest since January 2014, according to a preliminary report released by the Finance Ministry. The country's current account balance, one of the widest gauges of international trade, remained in the red for the second straight month, reports Xinhua news agency. As Japan relies heavily on energy imports, surging energy prices due to the Covid-19 pandemic caused a goods trade deficit of 1.60 trillion yen.

Conscripts, reservists don't & won't take part in Ukraine conflict: Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said that conscripts and reservists "do not and will not" participate in Moscow's ongoing war in Ukraine. In a video put out by the Kremlin on the occasion of International Women's Day, the President emphasized that "soldiers who are doing military service do not and will not participate in hostilities. There will be no additional call-up of reservists from the reserve.
