2025 BMW X5 Debuts in India for ₹1 Crore, Taking on Mercedes-Benz GLE

BMW India has launched the latest generation of the X5 SUV, which comes with petrol and diesel powertrain options.

The base-line xDrive40i is priced at Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom), while the range-topping xDrive30d M Sport Pro will cost Rs 1.15 crore (ex-showroom). Both models have undergone significant changes in design and interior bells and whistles. Let us see the details.

The legendary Bavarian SUV has been given a subtle facelift. The most prominent visual updates are matrix adaptive LED headlights and L-shaped 3D taillamps. These are complemented by new 21-inch alloy wheels. The M Sport Pro package adds more to the look with high-gloss black trim, red brake calipers, an M Sport exhaust system, and so on. Customers also get six metallic paints to customize the SUV.

Inside, the cabin features a widescreen curved display system with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. Comfort features that the cabin offers include electrically adjustable comfort seats, four-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon surround sound setup, and BMW ConnectedDrive features. Some other convenience features such as keyless entry and automatic parking feature in the package as well.

Under the bonnet, the X5 draws power from 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines that are now supplemented with a 48V mild-hybrid system for enhanced efficiency. The petrol xDrive40i produces 381 bhp and 520 Nm of torque, going from 0–100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. While the diesel xDrive30d makes 286 bhp and 650 Nm, it takes 6.1 seconds to go from 0–100 kmph. The two engines come with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and Adaptive 2-Axle Air Suspension.

For the first time, BMW has made its exclusive xOffroad Package available on all models of the X5. With four terrain modes—xSand, xRocks, xGravel, and xSnow—the system improves off-road performance. Other underbody protection and xOffroad-specific readouts enhance the SUV's overall performance in varied conditions.
