Unlike the existing FASTag, the annual pass comes with a prepaid facility that pays for up to 200 toll crossings or a year's usage, whichever is earlier.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is ready to introduce the annual pass of FASTag from August 15, 2025. The new pass will facilitate free flow of traffic, reduce waiting time, and provide hassle-free travel on highways.

Unlike the existing FASTag, the annual pass comes with a prepaid facility that pays for up to 200 toll crossings or a year's usage, whichever is earlier.

It should be noted that the FASTag annual pass shall only apply to private non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans, as categorized in the VAHAN database. The pass will operate only on national highways and expressways managed by NHAI or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

As previously mentioned, the annual pass is convenient as it gives up to 200 toll entries or one-year validity, thereby reducing the process of recurrent payments.

Like the existing FASTag system, the annual pass is contactless-payment-enabled, allowing travelers to proceed through toll plazas without wasting a lot of time.

Existing FASTag users won’t need to obtain a new tag; instead, they can upgrade their current FASTag to the annual subscription plan, making it easier to comply with the new regulations hassle-free.

FASTag annual pass will cost Rs 3,000 and can be bought using credit cards, UPI, and net banking. After the validity period or the toll crossing limit is over, users can recharge the pass as they do with the normal FASTag.

The annual pass facility will be operational from August 15, 2025. If one wants to stick with the current FASTag system, it can be done, and it will have all the related benefits under the present scheme.

In order to choose the annual pass, the users must visit the Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI/MoRTH website, providing their vehicle number and FASTag ID. The FASTag must be active, properly stuck, and connected with the registered vehicle in the database. After providing the necessary information and making the payment of Rs 3,000, the users will get confirmation. Upon confirmation, the FASTag annual pass will get activated and automatically ready for use.
