Indian Launch of New BMW S 1000 R — Specs, Price, Top Speed & Details

BMW Motorrad has launched the new generation of its hyper-naked bike, the BMW S 1000 R, in India at ₹19.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new bike comes in as a CBU unit and with it comes updated styling along with a number of performance-oriented improvements over its predecessor.

A 999 cc water- and oil-cooled inline four-cylinder engine resides at the core of the S 1000 R. It produces 170 hp at 11,000 rpm and has 114 Nm of maximum torque at 9,250 rpm. The bike accelerates from 0–100 km/h in merely 3.2 seconds, with its top speed limited to 250 km/h.

Though the new S 1000 R builds on the established split-face LED layout, it wears more angular bodywork that makes it even more aggressive-looking. The refinements carry over to the tail section as well, now featuring a reduced height, sporty license plate holder. The rear turn signals and license plate lights are also combined into one streamlined unit for a sleeker appearance.

BMW is presenting the S 1000 R in three striking colours:

Blackstorm Metallic

Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow (exclusive to Style Sport variant)

Lightwhite Uni/M Motorsport (which is only offered with the M package)

Based on the S 1000 RR being a superbike, the naked brother inherits a list of top-shelf features, such as:

For those requiring greater flexibility, BMW provides the S 1000 R with three optional equipment packages:

Dynamic Package – Features Dynamic Damping Control, Pro riding modes, Shift Assistant Pro, and engine spoiler.

Comfort Package – Features Keyless Ride, cruise control, heated grips, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

M Sport Package – Gets the complete M treatment with M colors, M Sport seat, light M battery, M fuel filler cap, sports silencer, M Endurance chain, GPS Laptrigger, and either M forged wheels or M carbon wheels.

The BMW S 1000 R comes at a price of ₹19.90 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market, which is one of the most performance-oriented offerings in the hyper-naked segment.
