PM Modi to Launch BSNL’s ‘Swadeshi’ 4G Network on September 27

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurates BSNL's entirely indigenous 4G network on September 27, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on Friday.

Speaking at a pre-launch event, Scindia said, "Tomorrow will be the day when the world will notice India not merely as a provider of services but as a full 4G stack developer and equipment maker."

He also added that the nation's telecom network is cloud-based, future-proof, and upgradeable to 5G with ease.

Scindia confirmed that BSNL's 4G network will go live on around 98,000 sites all over the country on September 27, with launches taking place simultaneously in several states. 

The network will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister from Jharsuguda in Odisha.

This is a fresh time for the telecommunication industry," Scindia said. "India now joins the select group of nations that manufacture telecom equipment, joining Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China. India becomes the fifth country in this league."

Scindia also announced that the Prime Minister will launch India's 100 percent 4G network under the Digital India Fund with the goal of linking about 29,000 to 30,000 villages by a mission-mode initiative.

Telecom Secretary Neeraj Mittal pointed out that India is the largest telecom market globally, and 5G users will grow from the existing 300–400 million to 770 million by the year 2028. 

He attributed the development of this homegrown 4G stack to the policies of Prime Minister Modi.

Putting forth his observations to IANS, UP East Chief General Manager of BSNL Arun Kumar Garg stated, "The introduction of BSNL 4G is a national pride because the technology behind it is completely indigenous, which has been developed by C-DOT, Tejas Networks, and TCS."
