For Damson Idris, co-starring with Pitt in F1, remaining attentive on set wasn't always simple—particularly when immersed in the charged environment of actual Formula One tracks.

The Nigerian-British actor, most famous for his starring role in the FX crime series Snowfall, was immersed in character as the cast filmed high-intensity racing scenes at some of the sport's most historic circuits. Even with six seasons of TV praise, Idris hadn't expected to be under the glare of cameras with Pitt and top F1 drivers on set. He thought he'd go somewhat under the radar.

That illusion quickly dissipated when he started hearing crowds chant his own name—along with "Franklin Saint," the notorious character he portrayed on Snowfall.

"It's ironic, because I perceive myself as a young actor who nobody recognizes," Idris, 33, said in an interview recently with The Associated Press.

But for Idris, anonymity appears to be vanishing. His appearance at the Met Gala in May made news when he showed up in dramatic flair—wearing a complete racing suit emblazoned with F1's fictional team, APXGP.

The top of his look was completed with a Swarovski crystal-encrusted helmet, which he dramatically doffed (with the assistance of two ushers) to reveal a second set of attire beneath. The bold gesture became one of the most buzzed-about moments at an event renowned for its flair and showmanship.
