Three of five BJP MPs bite the dust in Bengal
Star BJP candidates and MPs Swapan Dasgupta, Locket Chatterjee and Babul Supriyo have all lost in the elections, while MP Nisith Pramanik has won by a slender margin of 57 votes. Another Lok Sabha member of the BJP, Jagannath Sarkar, also won the elections.
Lotus fails to bloom in Kerala, Sreedharan misses train too
The major upset for BJP in Kerala Assembly Election 2021 was the loss of 'Metroman' E. Sreedharan in Palakkad. Leading right from the time counting started, he, however, lost steam in the last few rounds and eventually his Congress rival and Youth Congress President Shafi Parambil completed a hat trick of wins by a margin of 3,840 votes.
PM reviews usage of gaseous oxygen for medical purposes
In line with his direction of exploring innovative ways to ramp up supply and availability of Oxygen, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday chaired a meeting to review the usage of gaseous oxygen. Many industries like steel plants, refineries with petrochemical units, industries using rich combustion process and power plants have oxygen plants which produce gaseous oxygen which can be tapped for medical use.

At the end of the day, the LDF's final tally was the Communist Party of India-Marxist 68, thee Communist Party of India 17, the Kerala Congress-Mani five, the Janata Dal-Secular and the Nationalist Congress Party two each and the Loktantrik Janta Dal, the Indian National League, Congress-Seccular, the Revolutionary Socialist Party-L and Kerala Congress-B one each.
Change of guard in Tamil Nadu, DMK to form govt after 10 years
The DMK, led by its President M.K. Stalin, is leading in 121 of the state's 234 Assembly constituencies and if the trend continues, then it can form the government on its own. The party-led front is leading in 143 Assembly constituencies (Congress 15, CPI and CPI-M two each, VCK three) for which the polls were held on April 6.

However, there seemed to be a setback for the Trinamool supremo in Nandigram, where after several twist-and-turns, her one-time aide Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP reportedly defeated her by a narrow margin. The Trinamool, however, has not accepted the verdict yet, claiming that the counting is still on.
Congress leads against BJP in MP Assembly by-poll
Voting was held on April 17 for the by-election to the Damoh Assembly constituency and counting is underway at Polytechnic College. Congress candidate Ajay Tandon is leading by 1,815 votes. The counting is taking place in three rooms with the postal ballots being counted in a separate room. According to the Election Officer, there are five tables each in two rooms and four tables in the third room.
Delhi's Rainbow Children's Hospital sounds alert over oxygen shortage
The 130-bedded hospital sent an SOS message through its Twitter handle after it again faced a similar issue on Sunday when the oxygen availability at the facility for the day was estimated till 12 noon. Based in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, the hospital currently admitted 80-90 Covid patients that included pregnant women and children-- some in ICU and NICU.
