India will start making Kalashnikov AK 203 assault rifles
The weapon will be manufactured at a plant in Korwa in Uttar Pradesh, according to Alexander Mikheev, the head of Rosoboronexport, the Russian state agency for international arms trade, RT reported. "We plan 100 pert cent localisation of the production of the legendary Russian assault rifles in India. In the future, the joint enterprise may ramp up capacity and upgrade to manufacture more advanced models based on the Kalashnikov platform," the agency quoted its chief as saying in a statement issued on Monday.

Justice D.Y. Chandrachud appointed next Chief Justice of India
Justice Chandrachud will be sworn in as India's 50th CJI on November 9. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, in a tweet, said: "In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, President appoints Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud, Judge, Supreme Court as the Chief Justice of India with effect from 9th November, 22".

The Interpol General Assembly will be attended by delegations from 195 Interpol member countries comprising of ministers, police chiefs of countries, heads of National Central Bureaus and senior police officers. Interpol's supreme governing body, the General Assembly meets once a year to take key decisions related to its functioning.
Highly infectious new Omicron sub variant BF.7 detected in India
According to some reports, the first case of BF.7 has been detected by the Gujarat Biotechnology Research centre. This new Omicron variant is also considered to be highly infectious and has a greater transmissibility. Omicron sub-variants -- BA.5.1.7 and BF.7 -- after emerging from a region of Mongolia in China are now making their way to other parts and posing fresh threats.
Ahead of Diwali, Delhi's air quality dips to 'poor' category
According to a forecast issued by the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) on Sunday, the AQI in Delhi will remain in the 'poor' category till Wednesday and the subsequent six days. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that the AQI of Anand Vihar was recorded at 428 or the 'severe' category on Monday.
India logs 2,060 new Covid cases, 10 deaths
The new deaths took the nationwide tally to 5,28,905. The active caseload at 26,834 accounts for 0.06 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 1,841 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,40,75,149. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.75 per cent. Meanwhile, the daily and weekly positivity rates stood at 1.86 per cent and 1.02 per cent, respectively.
Congress to vote for new president today
Voting will be conducted across all state and union territory offices from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. About 67 booths have been set up, according to the party's Central Election Authority (CEA). Once the voting process ends, all the ballet boxes will be brought to the AICC headquarters in New Delhi. Results will be declared as soon as counting of the votes end on Wednesday.
