All eyes on Supreme Court hearing in Gyanvapi mosque case

The Supreme Court will hear an appeal against the Allahabad High Court order which dismissed a petition challenging a Varanasi court's order to appoint an advocate as a court commissioner to inspect the Gyanvapi mosque complex. A bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and P.S. Narasimha will hear the plea filed by Committee of Management Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Varanasi.
India reports 1,569 new Covid cases, 19 deaths

In the same period, the country reported 19 Covid deaths, taking the nationwide toll to 5,24,260. The active caseload of the country has also marginally declined to 16,400 cases, accounting for 0.04 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 2,467 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,25,84,710.
AIMPLB slams Gyanvapi survey, no 'Shivling' found

The board termed the survey, its report and sealing of 'wuzu khana' as gross injustice to Muslims. In a statement issued late on Monday evening, the AIMPLB said the current situation created about the Gyanvapi mosque was completely unacceptable to Muslims and Gyanvapi "was a mosque and will continue to remain a mosque till the end".
India slams OIC for remark on delimitation exercise in J&K

In response to media queries on this issue, the spokesman of the Ministry of the External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, said, "We are dismayed that the OIC Secretariat has once again made unwarranted comments on the internal affairs of India." On numerous occasions, India had categorically rejected the assertions made by the OIC Secretariat on the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inalienable part of India, Bagchi said.
China engaged in infra building across border in Arunachal: Indian Army

Admitting that the hostile terrains and inclement weather are major challenges in this border front, Kalita said that infrastructure building is being carried out, roads are constructed and old advanced landing grounds are revived in the Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh. He said that India is also constantly upgrading its infrastructure and capabilities to deal with any situation which may arise along the border.
'Shivling' found in Gyanvapi well, claim Hindu lawyers

Lawyer Vishnu Jain said he would go to the civil court to seek its protection. An advocate from the Hindu side, Madan Mohan Yadav, claimed that the shivling is Nandi faced. "The shivling is 12 feet by 8 inches in diameter," he added. Heavy security was deployed as the court-appointed committee reached the spot to conduct the survey on Monday. Nearly 65 per cent of the exercise was completed on Sunday.
SC to hear challenge to survey Gyanvapi mosque on Tuesday

A bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud and P.S. Narasimha will hear the plea filed by Committee of Management Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Varanasi. On May 13, the apex court had declined to immediately stop the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, and agreed to list the matter.
