India reports 3,688 new Covid cases, 50 deaths

The active caseload of the country has reported a considerable rise at 18,684, accounting for 0.04 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 2,755 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,25,33,377. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent. Also in the same period, a total of 4,96,640 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the overall to 83.74 crore.
India sends critical medical aid to Sri Lanka facing health emergency

The Indian High Commissioner in Colombo, Gopal Baglay, on Friday handed over the consignment comprising 107 types of critical lifesaving medicines weighing over 760 kg to Sri Lanka Health Minister Channa Jayasumana. Due to the urgency, the consignment was expeditiously delivered using the Indian Naval Ship Ghariyal.

India's peak power demand touches all-time high 207,111 MW

Power demand has been on the rise ever since the onset of the summer season this year. The power demand met this month up to April 28 increased by 12.1 per cent to 204.653 GW from 182.559 GW during same period previous year, the ministry said. The maximum all-India demand met on Thursday was 204,653 MW.

ED files FIR with Delhi Police against Kolkata Police officials

The ED had said there was fabrication in the court order and now has filed an FIR with the Delhi Police. Senior ED officials were earlier summoned by Kolkata Police in the matter pertaining to leaking of purported audio conversation between ED officials and the businessman. The ED had approached Delhi High Court seeking relief in the matter. Summons were issued again after Trinamool Congress leader Banerjee and his wife were asked to join the ED's probe in Delhi.

The recovery of 2,496 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,25,30,622. Consequently, India's recovery rate now stands at 98.74 per cent.
Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on Modi's visit to J&K: MEA

The MEA's response came after Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had termed Modi's recent visit to Jammu as "staged". "I do not understand the word 'staged' that Shehbaz Sharif used. Everyone knows about the changes in J&K. It means they are trying to present a view that the visit did not take place. Pakistan has no locus standi on Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan commenting on this matter is wrong," MEA spokesperson Arndam Bagchi said.
