After the prime minister’s announcement, prominent political leaders, as well as farmer union leaders, have shared their views on the government's decision. While most leaders termed it as a win for the farmers, few called it the opposition's win too.

In a majority judgment, a bench comprising justices U.U. Lalit and Bela M. Trivedi said that it would lead to a very detrimental situation, frustrating the very object of the Act, inasmuch as in that case touching the sexual or non-sexual parts of the body of a child with gloves, condoms, sheets or with cloth, though done with sexual intent would not amount to an offence of sexual assault under Section 7 of the POCSO Act.
India logs 11,106 new Covid-19 cases, 459 death, in last 24 hours.

With the new fatalities, the nationwide Covid death toll has increased to 4,65,082. The recovery of 12,789 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,38,97,921. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.28 per cent, the highest since March 2020. The active caseload stands at 1,26,620 and the active cases presently constitute 0.37 per cent of the country's total positive infections, the lowest since March 2020.

110 countries recognise India's Covishield, Covaxin: Source

A source with the Ministry said that at present, 110 countries have agreed to mutual recognition of vaccination certificates and those who recognise Indian vaccination certificates of travellers fully vaccinated with Covishield or World Health Organisation(WHO)-approved Covid vaccines. If partially or not vaccinated travellers visit India, they will have to submit their sample for post-arrival Covid-19 test at the point of arrival after which they will be allowed to leave the airport.

India, China agree on need to find early resolution to remaining border disputes
