Mayawati sounds poll bugle, trains guns on BJP

Launching an attack on the BJP, the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, the BSP chief said, "During the upcoming state Assembly polls, if the BSP government is formed in Uttar Pradesh, our emphasis will be on providing means of livelihood to the poor and unemployed youth in the state. Jaishankar to visit Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Armenia from October 10

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Saturday, Jaishankar's first stop is Kyrgyzstan from October 10 to 11. This will be Jaishankar's first visit to the country as External Affairs Minister. He will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev, apart from calling on President Sadyr Japarov, it said.
Mehbooba Mufti prevented from visiting Anantnag

Despite Lakhimpur incident, BJP set to sweep polls in UP: Survey

The survey findings can work as a boost for the BJP, which is on the backfoot over the matter. As per the survey, the seat projection for the BJP and its allies is between 241 and 249, while its nearest rival Samajwadi Party and its allies are projected to win 130-138 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is likely to win just 15 to 19 seats, while the Congress and others won't manage to cross the double-digit mark.
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted in disciple's murder case

Ram Rahim Singh is currently serving a 20 years' rigorous imprisonment for the rape of two women followers at Rohtak's Sunaria jail. He was also convicted for life for the murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chattrapati. Apart from Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the CBI court on Friday also convicted four others -- Krishan Lal, Sabdil Singh, Jasbir Singh and Avtar Singh -- in the same case.
