Assam bypolls: Congress to go alone, BJP in alliance
According to the Election Commission announcement on Tuesday, bypolls to Gossaigaon, Tamulpur, Bhabanipur, Mariani and Thowra would be held on October 30. Congress' chief spokesman Bobbeeta Sharma said on Wednesday that as of now, her party would contest the bypolls alone. "However, senior party leaders would discuss all the aspects of the by-elections," Sharma told IANS.
DDMA allows Ramleela, Durga Puja, Dussehra celebrations in Delhi
After the meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the DDMA has decided that festivals will be celebrated with restrictions on crowd gatherings, number of eateries, fairs and separate entry and exit points. Compliance with Covid-19 guidelines is mandatory. The DDMA will soon issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) document about the other restrictions, if any, said a DDMA official.
Delhi reports 41 new Covid cases, no fatality
The Covid infection rate in the national capital has climbed to 0.06 per cent, as the active case tally has went up to 392, while 22 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,13,342 so far, it said. A total of 107 Covid patients are being treated in home isolation at present. The Covid recovery rate was 98.23 per cent, while the active Covid cases rate stands at 0.027 per cent, and the death rate continues to be at 1.74 per cent.
Defence Ministry approves proposals worth Rs 13,165 crore
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in its meeting held under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for Capital Acquisitions proposals for modernization and operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces amounting to approximately Rs 13,165 cr. Of the total amount approved, procurement worth Rs 11,486 crore (87 percent) is from domestic sources.
