INS Sandhayak to be decommissioned on Friday after 40 years

The decommissioning ceremony of INS Sandhayak will be held at the Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard. It will be a low-key event to be attended only by in-station officers and sailors with strict observance of Covid protocols. Sandhayak was conceptualised by then chief hydrographer to the government, Rear Admiral F.L. Fraser, a Padma Shri awardee who had a strong desire for indigenously designed and built hydrographic survey vessels in India.
624 doctors died in 2nd Covid wave, highest in Delhi: IMA

The IMA's latest data revealed that a total of 1,362 doctors have died so far since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. In the first wave as many as 748 doctors lost their lives. Delhi is followed by Bihar where most doctors' deaths have been recorded. A total of 96 doctors have lost their lives in Bihar, while Uttar Pradesh lost 79, Rajasthan 43, Jharkhand 39 and Andhra Pradesh 34.
Gambhir's foundation illegally stocked-distributed Covid drugs: HC told

The drug controller informed the Delhi High Court that action will be taken against Gambhir's foundation, drug dealers, as well as other such cases which were brought to its notice. The drug controller also informed the court that MLA Praveen Kumar has also been found guilty of similar offences under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Ready for Amarnath Yatra, decision lies with administration: Army Chief

Addressing the media here on Thursday the COAS said, "We are ready for the Amarnath Yatra. We have taken all the necessary steps although the final decision to hold the Yatra lies with the civil administration". The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), which organises the annual Yatra, announced on April 22 the temporary suspension of the registration of pilgrims for the Yatra.
Won't allow 'experiments' with glitched ventilators: Bombay HC

In its verdict on Wednesday, a Division Bench comprising Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice B.U. Debadwar said that they would "not permit experimentation of ventilators which have undergone major repairs in treating the patients, since this would be causing a risk/health hazard to the patients, and unfortunately, the use of such ventilators may cause loss of life, which must be averted".
ED arrests RJD RS Member AD Singh in fertilizer scam case

The case pertains to an alleged fertilizer scam linked to IFFCO and India Potash Limited (IPL), in which the CBI had registered a corruption case last month. The CBI has named U.S. Awasthi, MD and CEO of IFFCO, Pravinder Singh Gahlaut, MD of Indian Potash Ltd (IPL), Amol Awasthi and Anupam Awasthi, both sons of the IFFCO MD and CEO and also promoters of Catalyst Business Associates Pvt Ltd; Vivek Gahlaut, son of IPL MD Gahlaut.
WhatsApp privacy policy in HC: Centre raises trick-consent tactics to lure users

It emphasized that WhatsApp is indulging in anti-users' practices by obtaining the "trick consent" from its users for its updated privacy policy. "It is submitted that millions of WhatsApp existing users, those who have not accepted the updated 2021 privacy policy are being bombarded with notifications on an everyday basis," said the affidavit, citing a screenshot of the push notification and urged the court to restrain WhatsApp from "pushing notifications".

Sources in BJP said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Roy at around 10.30 a.m. and enquired about the health of his wife. Petrol, diesel price rise goes for a longer pause

Accordingly, the pump prices of petrol and diesel remained at Rs 94.49 and Rs 85.38 per litre respectively in Delhi on Thursday. In the city of Mumbai, where petrol prices crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark for the first time ever on Saturday (May 29), the fuel price remains at new high of Rs 100.72 per litre. Diesel price also continues to be at Rs 92.69 a litre, the highest among metros.
