GST return filing deadline for May extended till June 26
The development comes on the basis of the recommendations of the GST Council, which, in its 43rd meeting on May 28, had decided to extend certain compliance relaxations on account of Covid-19. In a series of tweets on Monday, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said that for composition taxpayers, the due date for furnishing annual return in 'Form GSTR-4' for FY 2020-21 would has been extended to July 31.
Defence Ministry comes up with 2nd negative import list of 108 items
The second list includes 108 defence equipment which will not be imported. Earlier, the ministry had come up with a negative import list of 101 items to give impetus to self-reliance in defence manufacturing. With the new list of items banned for imports, the tally has now gone up to 209 since August last year when the embargo on defence items was announced.

While Facebook, WhatsApp, Google, Telegram, LinkedIn etc have either fully or partially complied with the new IT rules, Twitter is yet to follow suit. Twitter last week requested the IT Ministry to consider a minimum of three-month extension in order for the company to implement the new intermediary guidelines.

Sputnik V vaccine is not being produced domestically so far. Right now they are importing the vaccine and will start manufacturing in August. Aerial disinfectant project halted in Bengaluru after experts express concern
The aerial spraying of disinfectants was to be taken up in two different parts of the city from Monday onwards for the next three days. The project has now been put on hold after environmental and health concerns were raised. Gupta told reporters that the civic body was studying the pros and cons of the project. "We will discuss with health and environment experts before relaunching this project," he said.

Ravindra Bhat told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, "You must smell the coffee and see what is happening across the country", and stressed that Centre's vaccination policy should not be carved in stone, rather it should evolve based on the ground situation. The bench suggested that the Centre must know the ground situation and change its policy accordingly.
Petrol price rises again after hitting century mark in Mumbai
Accordingly, the pump prices of petrol and diesel increased by 29 paise and 26 paise per litre to Rs 94.23 and Rs 85.16 per litre respectively in Delhi on Monday. The bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud, L. Nageswara Rao and S. Ravindra Bhat said: "It's time we define the limits of sedition" and expressed prima facie that FIRs are an attempt to muzzle media freedom.
