Lowest daily new cases in 44 days, recovery rate 90%: Health Ministry
At 1.86 lakh cases, the daily new cases are the lowest in the last 44 days with less than 3 lakh daily new cases for 12 consecutive days. Recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 15th consecutive day with the recovery rate increasing to 90.34%. The daily positivity rate at 9.00% is less than 10% for 4 consecutive days.

India records 1.86L new Covid cases, lowest since April 14
This is for the second time since April 14 that India has recorded less than two lakh cases of Covid. On May 25, India has recorded 1.96 lakh cases of Covid, first time since April 14. The fatalities have also remained below 4,000 for two consecutive days. India's overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,75,55,457 with 23,43,152 active cases, and 3,18,895 deaths, so far.

R&AW chief, IB director get one-year extension
Both Goel and Kumar are 1984-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, who were to retire on June 30 this year. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the extension in service of both Goel and Kumar for a period of one year beyond their present tenure ending June 30. An order issued by the Minstry of Personnel on Thursday mentioned that both the IPS officers, holding two key posts.
