'ISRO set to transfer technology for oxygen concentrator soon'
On Friday officials of VSSC had a video meeting of interested companies and explained about 'Shwaas' and its systems. "It was a first round meeting and about 50 industries participated. I had interacted with them. My team and I answered their queries," S. Somanath, Director, VSSC told IANS.
India reports 8,848 mucormycosis cases, 23K more Amphotericin vials allocated
Taking note of the increasing numbers, the Central government has emphasised upon expediting the allocation of vials of Amphotericin-B, a key drug to treat raging mucormycosis. In this direction, the Union minister of chemicals and fertilisers D.V. Sadananda Gowda has announced an allocation of 23,680 additional vials of Amphotericin-B.
Delhi's daily Covid positivity rate reduces to 3.5%, below 5% mark
The daily positivity rate, crucial to assess the spread of coronavirus in the area, was on Friday reported below the 5 per cent mark (4.74%) and continued to slow down to 3.5 per cent, the lowest since March 31 when it was 2.71 per cent.
British Airways flight carrying 18 tonnes of aid arrives in India
"The cargo-only flight (BA257F) departed London at 5 p.m. on Friday 21 May and landed in Delhi at 5.45 a.m. this morning." According to the airline, the total weight of the medical aid was 18 tonnes, made up of five thousand pieces. Amongst the medical equipment the airline cited were hundreds of oxygen concentrators from charities including Oxfam, Khalsa Aid, Christian Aid and LPSUK.
At 20.66L India sets record Covid testing in 24 hours
Cumulatively, 20,66,285 tests were conducted in the country in past one-day duration, Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. This is also the fourth successive day of more than 20 lakh tests in India. India on May 19 first time crossed the 20-lakh mark with 20,08,296 tests followed by 20,55,010 on May 20, and 2061,683 on May 21.
Centre asks social media to remove content referring to 'Indian Covid variant'
In an advisory to social media platforms, MEIT said this is in line with earlier advisories to curb fake news, misinformation concerning coronavirus on platforms. The Ministry said it has come to its notice that a false statement is being circulated online which implies that an "Indian variant" of coronavirus is spreading across the countries.
Rahul Gandhi hits out at govt for black fungus epidemic
In a tweet in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi said, "It is only in India that there is an epidemic of black fungus along with the Covid pandemic due to the inefficiency of Modi system. There is shortage of vaccines as well as of medicines. And to deal with this, the Prime Minister will be telling people to clang utensils and clap." His remarks came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi choked while interacting with the frontline workers of his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.
Covid 19 Update: India's daily caseload drop to 2.57L
India's overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,62,89,290 with 29,23,400 active cases and 2,95,525 deaths so far. According to the Health Ministry, a total of 3,57,630 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with 2,30,70,365 being cured from Covid till date. The Health Ministry said that a total of 19,33,72,819 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 14,58,895 who were administered vaccines
Kejriwal, US envoy discuss cooperation to tackle Covid
In a statement, the Chief Minister's Office said Kejriwal and Smith discussed how the Delhi government and the US can jointly and collectively address the Covid-19 pandemic. Kejriwal also inquired about the health of the US embassy officials. Both said that once the Covid pandemic situation gets better, they would hold in-person discussions.
Arabian Sea tragedy: 60 dead, Barge master, others booked for culpable homicide
Yellowgate Police have acted on a complaint filed by barge chief engineer Rahman H. Shaikh who was among the survivors rescued by the Indian Navy earlier this week even as ONGC and AIL announced compensation for the victims. The development came two days after the police launched its probe based on an accidental death report to ascertain why the barge allegedly failed to adhere to safety norms despite warnings of the impending Cyclone Tauktae.
