In a tweet in Hindi, Rahul Gandhi said, "Vaccines reducing while the number of deaths due to Covid is increasing. Central government's policy is to divert attention, spread lies and make noise by hiding facts." He also attached screenshots of news reports indicating a sharp decline in the Covid vaccines and steep rise in the number of deaths due to Covid.

The Delhi chief minister on Tuesday tweeted about a  new Singapore variant of Covid-19 claiming it was  ‘very dangerous', especially for the kids. He had requested the central government to disallow flights from Singapore in view of possible dangers from the new variant of the coronavirus.

By late Tuesday, the IN-ICG teams managed to rescue 184 from the sunken Barge Papaa-305, with the help of Seaking helicopters, two naval ships and two offshore supply vessels. Besides, IN and ICG also saved the lives of all 137 who were marooned on the Barge GAL Constructor with helicopter and ship operations near the Colaba Point.

With 4,529 Covid deaths India sets another grim record

There were 2,67,533 new cases reported in the same duration. On Tuesday, India recorded 2.63 lakh fresh cases, lowest since April 21. Fresh Covid cases came down below the three-lakh- mark for the first time on May 17. On May 7, the country had recorded its highest ever cases of 4,14,188.
