Crime and corruption Trinamool's identity now, only BJP can bring real change in Bengal, says PM Modi

"Now, there is a single cry in Bengal. 'Trinamool Congress ke shorao, Bangla ke bachao' (remove Trinamool Congress to save Bengal). Nowadays, crime and corruption are the identity of Trinamool Congress. Unless Trinamool Congress is ousted, the actual change cannot happen. Actual change is ensuring the security of women, sending corrupted leaders to jail and not the ministry, and betterment of the masses."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mounted a fierce attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC) claiming that corruption and crime have become the party's identity under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Prime Minister claimed that only BJP can bring "asol paribartan" (actual change) in West Bengal.

Addressing a rally organized at Dum Dum Central Jail ground close to Kolkata, the Prime Minister stated:
"Now, there is a single cry in Bengal. 'Trinamool Congress ke shorao, Bangla ke bachao' (remove Trinamool Congress to save Bengal). Nowadays, crime and corruption are the identity of Trinamool Congress. Unless Trinamool Congress is ousted, the actual change cannot happen. Actual change is ensuring the security of women, sending corrupted leaders to jail and not the ministry, and betterment of the masses."

Modi also charged the state government with diverting Central funds meant for welfare schemes. There is a need to have a BJP government in West Bengal to bring about overall development of the state. Money transferred for development projects is being plundered here by the Trinamool Congress. The fund is not being utilized for the benefit of the people. But the same is being spent on Trinamool Congress cadres. Hence West Bengal is behind in development.".

Individuals are now uttering that 'Trinamool Congress Jabe, BJP asbe'. (BJP will arrive after Trinamool Congress is dethroned)," he informed. The Prime Minister also accused the TMC government of hindering Central projects in Bengal.

"Trinamool Congress has turned into an enemy of development. The Trinamool Congress government has declined to join the Centre's smart-city mission. Trinamool Congress' mission is to prevent the BJP here and its government's plots. Will this type of politics bring prosperity to Bengal? Will this benefit anyone? Let BJP try in Bengal. We will bring about overall development in the state," he stated.

Blaming the ruling party of appeasement, Modi accused the TMC of aiding infiltrators in the border state. "We want to provide jobs to our citizens. We want to assist them. But we will not let infiltrators, who are torturing our people, live in the country. But it is regrettable that the Trinamool Congress and INDI alliance partners are helping the infiltrators with a view to appease them. Demography in border areas is being altered," he added.

He again emphasized that those staying in India on fake identity cards will have to leave. "For that, the Trinamool Congress must go out of power as well as it is backing such people," he said.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones on projects of ₹5,200 crore that involved three new sections of the Kolkata Metro and an elevated corridor in Howrah.
